Scripture verses for the Month of January: Isaiah 40:30-31 (KJV) - Even the youth shall faint and be weary and the young men shall utterly fall. But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint Pastors note: This January, our month of fasting, is a time of waiting on the Lord. Waiting is not a passive monotonous, waiting of time. Rather it is a time to expectantly look to the Lord, as He prepares us in His presence for the days that are coming. I believe we are to expect more from heaven in 2007. There will be greater harvests in people's lives this year from seed sown in the past, This world knows about being busy and sometimes it seems like everyone is in a hurry. But as we wait on God, we are allowing Him to order our steps and bring our timing in line with His. This will cause us to do more and accomplish more in less time. We wait on God through two main ways, which are prayer and meditation on the word of God. These two avenues create a prepared life that is suitable for the Master's use. In Lk 24:49, Jesus commanded His disciples to wait in Jerusalem so that they could be empowered to be effective in their ministry. Waiting on God is crucial for effective service for God.
